Bari’s 1984/85 campaign was a landmark: under Bruno Bolchi they finished 3rd in Serie B with 49 points and returned to Serie A for the first time in 15 years, behind champions Pisa and runners-up Lecce. The run was powered by Edi Bivi, who won the league’s capocannoniere title with 20 goals, including the promotion-clinching strike in the 2–0 final-day win over Pescara (Alberto Bergossi added the second from the spot).
