  • Stefano Salvatori was an Italian midfielder who joined Heart of Midlothian in 1996 and became a key figure in one of the club’s most memorable eras. Known for his strength, composure, and tireless work ethic, Salvatori brought experience and a touch of continental class to the Hearts midfield. During the 1997–98 season, he played a vital role as the team finished third in the Scottish Premier Division and, most importantly, ended a 42-year wait for silverware by winning the Scottish Cup. Salvatori started in the famous 2–1 victory over Rangers in the final at Celtic Park, helping to control the midfield as Hearts secured their first major trophy since 1956. His calm leadership and professionalism made him a fan favourite, and his contribution to that historic season remains one of the high points of his career and in Hearts’ modern history.
