Stroppa arrived from Milan in the summer of 1995 and took the newly fixed squad number 10 under Alberto Zaccheroni. He featured regularly as an attacking midfielder, making 32 Serie A appearances and scoring once while Udinese—newly promoted—finished 11th and consolidated in the top flight. His role was connective: tidy possession, set-piece delivery, and link play with Paolo Poggi and Oliver Bierhoff in a side that was laying the foundations for the strong seasons that followed.
