Beppe Signori’s Sampdoria spell was short and mid-season: he arrived on loan from Lazio in the winter of 1997–98, made 17 Serie A appearances and scored 3 goals as Vujadin Boškov’s side finished ninth. He left in summer 1998, with the club in transition and Vincenzo Montella the primary scorer, and moved on to Bologna where his form picked up again.
