Parma carried their league resilience into Europe: the back four protected the box well, midfield recycled possession briskly and the forwards were released early into space. Settled after his debut year, Crespo refined his penalty-area craft—angled runs across centre-halves, first-time finishes from six to twelve yards and quick separation on crosses.
