José Antonio Chamot was Lazio’s first-choice left-sided defender from 1994 to 1998, signed from Foggia and used at both left-back and centre-back under Zdeněk Zeman. He helped Lazio finish Serie A runners-up in 1994–95, was a regular through Europe, and closed his spell by winning the 1997–98 Coppa Italia and starting the 1998 UEFA Cup final before moving to Atlético Madrid.
