In Marcello Lippi’s debut campaign, Juventus reset their structure around a new defensive spine and a rebuilt midfield, won the Scudetto and Coppa Italia, and contested a rare double-final showdown with Parma—meeting them in both the Coppa Italia (won) and the UEFA Cup (narrowly lost).

Installed as undisputed No. 1, Angelo Peruzzi started across league and cups, providing the shot-stopping and command of area that underpinned Lippi’s title push.
