In Roy Hodgson’s only full season, Inter finished 3rd in Serie A and reached the UEFA Cup final, losing to Schalke on penalties. Zanetti made 33 league appearances and scored 3 Serie A goals, alternating between full-back and wide midfield and establishing the durability and two-way reliability that would define his Inter career.
