Milan’s centenary season followed the ’98/99 title, with the Scudetto badge carried into 1999/2000. Shevchenko’s debut year in Serie A was sensational: Capocannoniere with 24 league goals and 29 in all competitions. Signed from Dynamo Kyiv where he’d been the Champions League top scorer, he scored on his Derby della Madonnina debut and quickly became the side’s primary finisher, blending pace with ruthless, two-footed finishing.
