Backup to Sebastiano Rossi in the Capello years, Ielpo was part of the squad that won the UEFA Super Cup (1994) and returned to the Champions League final in 1995. A long-serving pro—later a qualified lawyer—he collected Scudetti in 1993–94 and 1995–96 with Milan.
