We spotlight our favourite shirts uploaded to Showboat in early October.
Norwich (Home Jersey) - 1989
Norwich's run of Asics shirts in the late 80s and early 90s stand out for the fact the manufacturer is also the sponsor. It marked something of a golden era for Norwich who had an abundance of talent in their squad at the time including Andy Townsend, Ruel Fox and Tim Sherwood. This shirt - a lovely match-issued number - is valued at around £350 by our team and it's easy to see why.
Greenock Morton (Home Jersey) - 1992
We are suckers for everything that Matchwinner made in the 90s and this is no different. Greenock Morton's shirts from the late 80s and early 90s are up there with any clubs. This eye-catching shirt is set off by the yellow trim on the collar and the brilliantly simple sponsor - Buchanan's Toffee. A retro classic that we value at £215.
Celtic (Home Jersey) - 1987
Another Scottish jersey makes our list this week and this time it's a classic. Celtic’s 1987-88 season was a memorable one - it marked the club’s centenary year and they celebrated it in style with a domestic double under manager Billy McNeill. The season became legendary among fans - especially because of the dramatic comebacks and strong team spirit. The shirt remains sought after and we've valued this particular one at around £215.
Arsenal (Away Jersey) - 1991
We're not sure it gets any better than this. Arsenal's iconic bruised banana shirt, matchworn, by Tony Adams. This is a shirt that has grail status for probably hundreds of thousands of Arsenal fans. Our valuation team worked extensively on this one and settled on a £1,550 price tag. Worth every penny.
VfL Bochum (Away Jersey) - 1993
This Bochum shirt caught our eye for a number of reasons. Firstly, you don't see too many jerseys made by Reusch who are more commonly associated with goalkeeper gloves. In fact, they only made kits for Bochum for a single season. The colourful sponsor catches the eye but it's the details on the rest of the fabric that really bring this to life. A distinctly 90s shirt. The £130 valuations feels on point.
