Our favourite shirts added to Showboat this week...
Arsenal (Away Jersey) - 1983
80s Arsenal shirts are synonymous with adidas so it's always a pleasure to see Arsenal's lesser heralded partnership with Umbro get some love. This one, an away shirt from the 1983-84 season, caught the eye of our valuation team this week. It's in immaculate condition and appears without the JVC sponsor used primarily that season. We valued this in the region of £375.
Wales (Home Jersey) - 1980
You'll be used to hearing us say that great kits are tied to great memories but, as you also know, there are exceptions to every rule. Wales' golden generation of the 70s had hung up their boots and stars like Ian Rush and Mark Hughes were only beginning to find their feet. Results from this period might have been underwhelming, but the shirts certainly weren't. This matchworn number is valued around at around £445.
Bristol Rovers (Away Jersey) 1993
Some shirts just do it for you, don't they? This is one of those for us. It might have been the early 90s but this design was aching 80s. The club's short lived crest makes an appearance as does their iconic (but again short lived) partnership with Roman Glass. Topping it off is Matchwinner logo. Brilliantly British. We value this just north of 100 notes.
Aston Villa (Home Jersey) - 1992
Worn by the likes of Ray Houghton, Steve Staunton and Dwight Yorke this Aston Villa is so brilliantly of its time that it seems impossible anyone was able to run around in a shirt like this at all. The whole composition of it looks as though it was sewn together by a grandmother but you could wear this down the pub on a winters afternoon and you'd be as good as gold. Our team reckon this is in the £140 range.
Sheffield United (Home Jersey) - 1990
A wonderfully retro from one of Sheffield Utd's best seasons in the top flight, especially in relatively recent terms. Fresh on the back of promotion under Dave Bassett the team secured a 13th place finish with the likes of Briane Deane and Paul Stancliffe starring. The contest of the club's iconic clubs and that crisp collar make this a Sheffield United classic and one we'd value in the range of £150.
