Showboaters: The Best Weekly Shirt Uploads

Our favourite shirts added to Showboat this week...

Netherlands (Home Jersey) - 1994
For us, this remains one of the most international jerseys there is. That might have something to do with the fact that it was worn at the 1994 World Cup - a tournament filled with grails. With the value of shirts often tied to memories - and the Netherlands 'only' making the quarter-finals - this shirt is still available for relatively reasonable sums. Perhaps a semi-final or final run would have pushed its value even higher but as things stand our team value this one at around £175 and you'd have to say it's worth every penny.

Sheffield Wednesday (Away Jersey) - 1993

This David Hirst matchworn shirt from the 1993/94 Premier League season was a very welcome addition to the Showboat app this week - and one of a growing number of mathworn shirts to appear on the app. The iconic club crest, sponsor and patches make this a collectors dream. The fact it was worn by David Hirst makes it even more collectable due to the low number of appearances he made in this kit and indeed for Sheffield Wednesday from 1993 due to injuries. Hirst was a truly elite striker when fit. Our team value this shirt just north of £500.

Fiorentina (Away Jersey) - 1994

Another matchworn shirt added to Showboat this week came in the form of a lovely Andrea Sottil Fiorentina number. The shirt is from the 1994/95 seasons and was worn by the likes of new signing Rui Costa as well as Gabriel Batistuta who enjoyed a breakout season as the club returned to Serie A following a brief stint in Serie B. Perhaps not quite as iconic as a few other Fiorentina shirts on the 90s, sure. But this one, especially in long-sleeves, would take pride of place in 99% of collections nonetheless.

Ireland (Home Jersey) - 1988
There is a very strong case to be made for Ireland having the greatest shirt output of all national teams. This one fuses the legendary Irish green with the iconic Adidas trefoil to create something both uniquely Irish and 1980s. It was worn by Ireland during their first ever European Championship finals appearance in 1988 and though they didn't make it out of the group - they did beat England and consign their rivals to finishing bottom thanks to a goal from Ray Houghton. For that alone, this shirt remains treasured on the Emerald Isle.

Bronby (Template) - 1993
While we're not accustomed to seeing templates on the Showboat app - this one was undeniable after a chat with the collector. Hummel indicated this shirt was made in extremely limited numbers only for the club to discard it and opt for something else - likely due to the fact that it contained white, the colour of their rivals, FC Copenhagen. A fantastic anecdote and the kind we love to hear from our collectors when speaking to them directly or over social media. Also, what a bloody good looking bit of a kit!
