The five best home jerseys released so far ahead of the 2025/26 season.
Reebok’s back. And as we've seen all summer - in the world of football shirts, it’s often the challengers that bring the real heat. Hot on the heels of Charlton Athletic’s new kit drop, there's a distinct nostalgic feel to this season's best kits. Few things hit the nostalgia button like a long-lost logo making a comeback. In 2025, that iconic vector is home again. If you remember Liverpool under Houllier, City in sky blue pre-Saudis, or Big Sam’s Bolton dancing in white, you know this one just feels different. Unfashionable English team? Check. Sponsor you've never heard of? Check. This has all the hallmarks of a future cult classic.
Mainz and Jako certainly weren't on our shortlist of must-have collabs earlier this summer after last season's effort which looked more like a Tour de France jersey than a football one. But that's all forgotten now. This lovely number marks a fresh start in Jako's output with Mainz after taking over from Kappa two summers ago. It looks beautiful in short sleeves but the promotional images in long-sleeves really make this a must have and one that collectors can already pick up at a very reasonable price. A worthy addition to any collectors clothes rail.
The vintage vibe is hitting hard this summer. Espérance de Tunis were undoubtedly the best dressed team at the FIFA Club World Cup earlier this summer showcasing a trio of incredible shirts. The home shirt is unmistakably Espérance: the iconic red and yellow stripes run down the torso with that unapologetic swagger only Taraji can carry. The tonal mosaic pattern subtly woven into the fabric - a subtle homage to traditional Tunisian tilework, the kind you’d find in the courtyards of Bab Souika. The shirt also nods heavily to the 1995/96 home shirt. 30 years later, we get to enjoy it all again. A beautifully considered release.
Betis just don't miss. Season after season they turn their green and white template into something to behold. This season they're back with hummel for a fourth year and it's arguably their best yet. The lines are bolder, more aggressive than ever and hummel’s latest Jacquard tech, the shirt is built for battle. A new yarn structure gives the fabric greater definition and durability, while retro-style embroidered crests and logos tie it all together with a knowing nod to the past. There’s poetry woven into the collar too. Inside sits the line: "Verde, verde como el equipo de mi ciudad" ("Green, green like the team of my city") - a lyrical homage to Sevilla-born singer María Jiménez and her song "Verde, verde." The fabric, the thread, the shirt - all connected to the very soul of the city.
A brilliant simple design from Kappa makes this our favourite home shirt of the 2025/26 season to date. The DNA of the shirt feels timeless and evokes memories of the shirts that made Kappa the go-to manufacturer of the 90s. The long sleeves, clean lines and polo collar all pop. It's Riviera culture, Mediterranean elegance, and that elusive art de vivre that Nice represents all entwined. It's year one of Nice and Kappa. It is already, unmistakably, the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
